Sandra Rader, DNP, MSA, RN, NEA-BC
Sandra Rader, DNP, MSA, RN, NEA-BC is the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services at UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside. Sandra earned her Nursing Diploma from Jameson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Purdue University; Master of Science in Administration at the University of Notre Dame and Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Chatham University. Sandra holds an academic appointment to the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing as an Adjunct Associate Professor.
In January of 2006, Sandra became the CNO of UPMC Shadyside and in August of 2016 her role was expanded to CNO of UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside. It was her vision and passion that lead UPMC Shadyside’s high performing team on the journey to achieve Magnet® recognition. Now, Sandra is excited to join UPMC Presbyterian as they begin their journey to Magnet. She is a transformational leader and combines this with the philosophies of shared leadership to create quality patient care and a culture of excellence.
In 2017, Sandra was asked to take on the role of UPMC System Lead for Patient Experience. She is also the executive sponsor for the Community Health Needs Benefits for UPMC.
Sandra is past president for the Southwestern Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Leaders and past board member of Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Leaders. She is an active member of the Chatham Board of Trustees, Family House Board, UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside Board and Quality Board and most recently the Westminster College Distinguished Board of Visitors.
Sandra was presented with the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing 2015 Honorary Alumni Award. Sandra was also nominated by her colleagues for the Nightingale Nursing Administrator Award.
